The nationally-recognized Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Department of Theatre is currently seeking an engaging and enthusiastic full-time Instructor/Designer for their award-winning Technical Theatre Department.
Job Responsibility:
Provide hands-on instruction in scenic construction, including best safety practices
Teach students the fundamentals of lighting design, hanging & focusing of light plot, and programming of light board
Educate on sound design, including audio equipment setup, operation, and live performance mixing
Offer expertise in theatrical fabrication & rigging and appropriate safety procedures
Instruct students on the use of computer aided drafting and its uses in theatre
Mentor and motivate students with a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment that allows students to explore and take risks
Collaborate with technical coordination with the directors, choreographers, designers, and conductors to ensure continuity of productions
Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
Serve as Technical Director for Main Stage, Black Box, and other productions (this duty will be shared with other Technical Theatre faculty members and/or outside artists). This includes technical support for other departments (Instrumental, Vocal, Dance etc) as needed.
Requirements:
BA or BFA in Theatre Arts, Design/Production, or related field. Master's Degree preferred
Experience teaching in the arts in a high school or collegiate environment and/or related professional experience in technical direction and/or design/production
Willingness to work evenings and weekends periodically based on production schedule.
