Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Data Steward with strong experience in data governance, metadata management, and modern cloud data platforms. This role will focus on managing and enriching enterprise metadata, implementing governance frameworks, maintaining data lineage, and ensuring secure, compliant, and discoverable data assets across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise with Atlan or similar data cataloging platforms, strong knowledge of data governance best practices, and experience working with enterprise-scale data ecosystems in retail environments.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and enrich metadata within Atlan, ensuring datasets, tables, pipelines, and assets are properly documented and discoverable
  • Implement and maintain enterprise data cataloging standards, classifications, and business glossary definitions
  • Ensure accurate tagging and classification of sensitive and PII-related data assets
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for datasets, pipelines, and business definitions
  • Define, implement, and enforce enterprise data governance policies and standards
  • Support RBAC/ABAC governance models and ensure compliance with organizational security policies
  • Ensure proper handling, governance, and access controls for sensitive and regulated data
  • Support compliance initiatives related to governance, audit, and regulatory requirements
  • Build and maintain end-to-end data lineage from source systems through transformation and consumption layers
  • Support impact analysis, traceability, and governance reporting initiatives
  • Monitor and maintain data quality standards while identifying and resolving governance or data quality issues
  • Partner with engineering and analytics teams to improve data reliability, accessibility, and usability
  • Configure and support Atlan integrations with Databricks, GCP, Snowflake, BI tools, and related enterprise platforms
  • Collaborate closely with data engineering, analytics, business, and governance teams
  • Support automation and governance workflows across modern cloud-based data ecosystems
  • Drive adoption of governance standards and best practices across teams and stakeholders

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or data stewardship roles
  • Hands-on experience with Atlan preferred, or similar platforms such as Collibra or Alation
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, data lineage concepts, data cataloging best practices, PII and sensitive data classification, RBAC/ABAC security models
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, GCP, Snowflake
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of ETL/ELT and data pipeline concepts
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale data environments and governance initiatives
  • Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and business teams
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on governance accuracy and compliance
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments

  • Validate the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of operational data within assigned data sets by working with the Business Process Owners/Value Stream Leads and/or technical Product Owners
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and Data Owners to establish, document, and enforce clear data definitions, business rules, standards, policies and procedures that are consistently applied within the Operating Unit. Support continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practices
  • Become expert in specific market archetypes (especially indirect/distributor-driven)
  • Understand end-to-end data flows in terms of data inputs, outputs for capabilities such Customer Planning in Visualfabriq, Trade Promotions & Net Revenue Management
  • Validate data sources such as (SAP, Trade Promotion Management, sell-out, POS portals, NielsenIQ/IRI)
