Morson are currently seeking a Technical Author to join the team on an ongoing contracting basis. This role will be working for our large aerospace client based in Yeovil and will offer a hybrid style of working.
Job Responsibility:
Preparation of Service Bulletins (SB) within KPI timescales, to communicate effectively, Engineering Technical Instructions (ETIs) to International customers
Where required, preparation of SB to detail instructions for embodiment of aircraft modifications, including parts and test requirements. This can involve validation of both the design, parts and instructions through an aircraft trial installation
Use sound technical and aircraft operational knowledge together with understanding of maintenance requirements to influence others in the direction the ETI / modification takes
Maintain close liaison between the Designers, specialist Engineers and other Subject Matter Experts at all levels within the Company and outside agencies
Carry out investigative work using both drawings and company wide data sources
Liaisons with Design/Engineering to resolve drawing and configuration control issues with the technical data provided and seek clarification whilst maintaining the audit trail back to engineering design
Estimate budget requirements for tasks
For all tasks work to achieve schedule adherence commensurate with priority requirements
Raising the relevant paper work to rectify the issues
Identify tasks requiring re-work to assist to reducing the cost of quality
Manage all data utilised and/or created in the course of your work including adoption of appropriate destruction methods for data no longer required. Properly record, maintain and manage information/documentation so that it is auditable, useable and meets relevant legislative and contractual requirements
Maintain traceability across the various systems and plans to ensure alignment and consistency of dates and man-hours
Requirements:
Educated to at least HNC level in a relevant aviation related subject
Alternatively, to have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship followed by a period of employment in all aspects of aircraft maintenance and overhaul, sufficient to gain the necessary practical experience for the job role
An aptitude for understanding a technical requirement, interpreting technical documentation including drawings, writing instructions for customers which are accurate and clear for unambiguous compliance
Knowledge of engineering and helicopter systems and experience in helicopter operations/support
Knowledge of Airworthiness and Flight Safety requirements
Knowledge of Quality Assurance processes
Knowledge of Arbortext Editor and Frame Maker
Knowledge of the Company Engineering organisation, quality processes, operating procedures and drawing systems
Have an understanding of LSA, publications production and spares provisioning
Keyboard skills, a working knowledge of computers and computer system applications
Interpersonal and written communication skills, the ability to make sound technical assessments/judgements based on knowledge and experience, self-motivated and able to work as part of an integrated team
