As a technical assistant you will provide administrative and operational support to the technical team. You will work collaboratively with the site technical manager to develop and maintain a food safety and quality assurance programs, ensuring the company’s products are safe, legal, and meet or exceed customer expectations
Job Responsibility:
Assist in development and management of supplier and raw materials approval and monitoring processes and activities
Work collaboratively with NPD & marketing to provide, control and sign off on labels, nutritional data, shelf-life assessments and customer specific testing requirements
Assist in development, maintenance and completion of the artwork processes, technical datasheets, finished product specifications, private label quality contracts
Carry out assessment deliveries of pre-printed packaging against approved artwork for issues relating to but not exclusively food-safety, food quality and compliance with food-law. Liaise with suppliers as appropriate to obtain the necessary information
Accurately complete customer-specific documents, such as SAQs, product specifications, GMO documents, and allergen documents
Maintain and update the customer questionnaires database
Assist the commercial and marketing team in verifying the regulatory compliance of information for Amazon, Go Superfoods websites, and product technical data sheets
Liaise with external organisation such as The Soil Association and Vegan Society plus others
Approve or reject new raw materials and packaging material in discussion with the Site Technical Manager
Assist Quality Assurance Coordinator in management of the non-conformances raised with the suppliers to ensure that these are properly investigated, that the root cause is identified, where possible, and that the NCR is closed out in a timely fashion
Support customer complaints, enquires and non-conformances investigations across site
Report and maintain the plastic and packaging waste data
Support in the training of staff in food safety and quality practices
Support in GMP, fabrication and glass audits, traceability and mock recall exercises
Other tasks within your capability to help meet the roles of the department ie: 3rd Party audits/ internal
Requirements:
Food Science or relevant field degree (Food Technology/Nutrition)
HACCP Level 3
Food Safety Level 3
Working knowledge of food safety requirements, HACCP/TACCP/VACCP, legislation, BRCGS, Organic standards
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Good data and IT literacy, especially Excel and database
Ability to form good working relationships with all stakeholders, internal and external
Excellent communication and organisational skills
