Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Architect to play a pivotal role in a transformation project within the Canadian Federal Government. This critical initiative involves replacing a legacy system with a modern system while ensuring continued support for the legacy system. This role will require you to oversee onboarding and integration of applications, ensuring alignment with standard and authentication protocols, provide operational support for legacy systems, and evaluate projects, infrastructure upgrade and integration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have an accreditation from an international recognized organization along with a post secondary education relating to Information Technology.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the architecture support effort for the development, implementation, integration, and maintenance of the systems of IM/IT infrastructure and operations
  • Lead the development of technical architectures, frameworks and strategies to meet the business and application requirements
  • Identify policies and requirements that drive out a particular solution
  • Conduct research on technologies, including an examination of open-source repositories
  • Lead the analysis and evaluation of alternative technology solutions to meet operational problems
  • Ensure the integration of all aspects of technology solutions
  • Lead the evaluation of hardware and software relative to their ability to support specified requirements and, by determining potential and actual bottlenecks, improve system performance through recommended hardware changes
  • Review computer software systems and data requirements as well as communication and response needs and determine operating systems and languages needed to support them
  • Calculate total cost of ownership as part of the decision-making
  • Lead agile design sessions for the development of proof of concepts or prototypes
  • Fully document software development lifecycle deliverables
  • Research and present options for management decisions
  • Record and document decisions from project architecture work groups
  • Align to enterprise architecture standards
  • Align solutions to the latest technology stacks including JavaScript-based MEAN stack
  • Create documented and detailed diagrams for on-prem, cloud, mobile, and hybrid solutions
  • Participate in change impact analysis and change management activities
