Job Description:

The Regional Quality & Technical Manager Spain & France leads the regional technical and quality team to deliver the quality strategy, ensuring malting sites and products consistently meet standards for quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. The role drives a “total quality” culture across the region, aiming to reduce customer complaints and eliminate food safety incidents. With oversight from barley sourcing to final malt applications, the manager focuses on two key areas: strengthening collaboration with operations and engaging with customers.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to the development of the global quality strategy and governance (quality pillars)
  • Ensure effective deployment of global quality standards and best practices across the region
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain quality procedures, certifications, and food safety due diligence
  • Support and lead audits (internal, external, and client) and certification processes
  • Manage approval and updates of client specifications in MaPPS or JDE
  • Lead quality review meetings with customers and manage the customer complaints process
  • Provide technical support on malt-related issues (including dedicated support for client Damm)
  • Assist key account managers with customer relationship management and quotes
  • Implement and track KPIs for malt and barley quality performance
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action planning in case of failures
  • Develop and implement continuous quality improvement projects
  • Collaborate with the barley execution team on supplier management and crop surveys
  • Support operations with quality and food safety specifications for Capex projects
  • Contribute to the Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensure alignment with production requirements
  • Supervise regional quality specialists, set targets, monitor well-being, and develop training plans
  • Coordinate food safety trainings and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Act as the regional point of contact for quality support
  • Represent Boortmalt in technical congresses, symposiums, and industry forums
  • Manage the regional and international quality budget

Requirements:

  • Degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Agronomy, or related technical field
  • Strong knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), ISO standards, HACCP, and food safety regulations
  • Experience with certification schemes and regulatory audits
  • Understanding of malting, brewing, or food manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with raw material quality (barley) and supply chain management
  • Proven ability to lead regional teams, set targets, and develop training plans
  • Experience in coaching, motivating, and managing specialists across multiple sites
  • Experience managing quality budgets and aligning regional activities with global governance structures
  • Skilled in handling client audits, customer complaints, and technical support
  • Ability to represent the company at congresses, symposiums, and industry forums
  • Competence in KPI monitoring, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement projects and embedding a “total quality” culture
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to interact with customers, suppliers, and global teams
  • Ability to act as the regional point of contact for quality and technical matters
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
