Job Description

A leading property & casualty insurance company is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to be the lead internal contact for all accounting policy related questions. The Technical Accounting Manager will focus on researching and interpreting US GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles, SEC guidance, and new accounting standards, while maintaining accounting policies and updating technical accounting memos. The position will partner closely with finance and accounting leaders, support financial reporting, assist with close-related activities, respond to internal policy questions, and help ensure compliance with accounting and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a CPA, public accounting audit/assurance experience (especially with insurance clientele), exposure to SEC/public company clients, and strong technical accounting, research, memo-writing, and communication skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Be the lead internal contact for all accounting policy related questions
  • Focus on researching and interpreting US GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles, SEC guidance, and new accounting standards

Requirements

  • CPA required
  • 5+ years' experience in public accounting working with publicly traded clients (preference for insurance industry clients)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP policies and applications with ability to research, interpret, and apply rules
  • Proficient with drafting, reviewing, and updating memos
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with NAIC and Statutory Accounting Principles is preferred
  • May consider candidates in industry (publicly traded companies), if they have a CPA and strong foundation in public accounting and technical expertise
