If so, our client, a growing energy company in montgomery county is looking for a Technical Accounting Manager to join their growing accounting team. This role will drive the evaluation of complex accounting matters, shape policy development, and provide trusted guidance across the organization on the application of U.S. GAAP. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, deep technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex issues into clear recommendations that support accurate financial reporting.
Job Responsibility
Assess complex transactions, contractual arrangements, and business activities to determine the appropriate accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP and present well-supported conclusions to senior leadership
Create, refine, and formalize accounting policies for new initiatives and for areas where current guidance is limited or incomplete
Review matters involving revenue recognition, lease accounting, debt structures, equity transactions, and other non-routine activities, preparing clear technical documentation for each conclusion
Monitor newly issued accounting guidance, evaluate its impact on the organization, and coordinate adoption efforts as needed
Advise finance and cross-functional business partners on technical accounting questions to promote consistent application of accounting standards
Contribute technical expertise to the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures to help ensure complete and accurate reporting
Partner with external auditors by addressing technical accounting questions, providing supporting analyses, and facilitating efficient resolution of review matters
Participate in system-related initiatives and implementations to confirm that accounting requirements are properly reflected in process and design
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned to support the broader accounting and finance function
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
At least 6 years of relevant accounting experience, including 5 or more years focused on technical accounting
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including practical experience with complex accounting research and documentation
Experience evaluating areas such as ASC 606, ASC 842, and other technically challenging accounting topics
Background in public accounting is preferred, especially with exposure to technical accounting research and financial statement audits
Demonstrated ability to prepare technical memoranda or white papers with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting matters to varied audiences
Certified Public Accountant designation is highly preferred
