Allen Lane are delighted to be working with a Local Authority client to recruit an experienced Interim Technical Accounting Lead to provide specialist support during a critical period of financial reporting, governance, and year-end activity. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished interim finance professional with strong technical expertise in Local Government, Council-owned organisations, or Central Government. Working closely with senior leadership, you will take ownership of technical accounting, statutory reporting, balance sheet control, and audit preparation, ensuring full compliance with accounting standards and governance requirements.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory financial statements
  • Manage complex technical accounting matters and provide expert guidance
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
  • Act as key contact for external auditors and resolve audit queries
  • Ensure compliance with the CIPFA code
  • Support finance transformation and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical accounting within Local Government, Local Authority company or Central Government
  • Strong background in year-end close, audit, and statutory reporting
