Are you an experienced Social Work leader who is passionate about building up the next generation of practitioners, while simultaneously holding the highest standards for child safety? Most management roles force you to choose between strategic practice development and high-level safeguarding protection. This unique dual role at North Tyneside Council lets you master both. Role splits into two vital portfolios: 1. Lead the Innovation: Practice Development & Workforce Strategy - Drive National Reforms, Nurture Talent, Inspire the Culture. 2. Guard the Standards: Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) - Be the Expert Voice, Ensure Safety.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the Innovation: Practice Development & Workforce Strategy
  • Drive National Reforms: Take the lead on a major strategic project: redesigning the current ASYE framework into the brand-new Early Career Development Programme
  • Nurture Talent: Manage the entire Social Work Career and Qualification Pathway
  • Inspire the Culture: Manage two Advanced Practitioners and champion a culture of continuous learning
  • Guard the Standards: Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact under Working Together guidelines
  • Ensure Safety: Provide authoritative oversight when concerns arise regarding a professional's suitability to work with vulnerable children

  • A qualified, registered Social Work Manager with a strong track record in children's services
  • An educator at heart who understands the ASYE framework and has the vision to lead transition reforms
