Newcastle City Council is seeking an experienced and decisive Team Manager to lead our Learning Disabilities and Autism (LDA) Team. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services while meeting clear financial targets and performance standards. You will act as a bridge between frontline practice and strategic objectives, assisting in the development and monitoring of operational policies that directly impact the lives of service users in Newcastle.
Job Responsibility:
Team Leadership: Manage a multi-disciplinary team of social work staff, overseeing work allocation, performance monitoring, recruitment, and professional development
Operational Oversight: Manage assessment and investigation processes, making critical service decisions regarding resource availability and demand
Financial Management: Monitor and control devolved budgets and financial systems in strict accordance with Council regulations
Policy & Legislation: Interpret national and local legislation to advise senior management on service implications

Collaboration: Chair high-level meetings and coordinate with external organizations and other council directorates to ensure integrated service provision
Strategic Contribution: Participate in specific projects and working groups to help determine and achieve the directorate's long-term service plan objectives
Requirements:
Experience: Proven experience in a management or supervisory capacity within a statutory social care setting (specifically LDA preferred)
Qualifications: Recognized Social Work qualification and current professional registration
Skills: Strong financial acumen, the ability to interpret complex legislation, and excellent leadership qualities
Commitment: A dedicated approach to promoting the Council's Equality Policy in both employment and service delivery
