Job Description:

Team Manager role in the Family Safeguarding Team, focusing on better outcomes for children and young people. The role involves managing a team of social workers, ensuring high-quality service delivery within statutory guidelines, and collaborating with other teams and services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervision and development of practitioners
  • Manage the delivery of the team to ensure it is a high quality and effective service
  • Manage the planning, allocation and review of cases and ensure priorities are managed
  • Lead on customer service and stage 1 complaints
  • Manage the recruitment and staffing of the team
  • Provide expert knowledge of safeguarding processes, policy and case law
  • Lead on initiating, developing and sustaining internal and external working relationships with other professionals and partner agencies

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration
  • Ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide independently

  • Participate in planned regular meetings with Children and Young Persons Operational Manager and other colleagues
  • Adhere to and implement organisational policies and procedures
  • Plan, organise and facilitate weekly children’s sessions, working on a rotation of weekends, as well as during school holidays
  • Supporting implementing and running HAF sessions during school holidays
  • Completing monitoring for Birmingham services and sharing this with line managers for reporting
  • Communicate effectively with all staff, managers and professionals in order to all work together for the child. This also includes keeping in regular communication with families as well as being able to share in a timely manner other information which needs sharing between the team
  • Attend training courses as required to develop knowledge and skills to improve the quality of service
  • Carry out any other tasks that are deemed appropriate within your job role and the aims of the organisation
