Randstad is proud to partner with a prominent local government body to recruit a Team Leader Strategic Planning. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a visionary urban planning professional to lead a dedicated team in shaping the future of one of Sydney's most iconic districts.

Job Responsibility:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day activities, performance reviews, and professional development of the strategic planning team.
  • Preparing and monitoring the Delivery Program and Operational Plan (DPOP), as well as statutory instruments like LEPs and DCPs.
  • Providing expert planning and placemaking advice to Council, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing high-quality, plain-English reports and briefings for Council committees and working parties.
  • Championing best-practice community consultation to ensure diverse feedback on planning strategies.
  • Acting as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court when required.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary degree in Town Planning or a related field.
  • Proven skills in team leadership and managing complex projects involving external consultants.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in preparing and implementing LEPs, planning proposals, and contribution plans.
  • Exceptional written and oral skills, with the ability to present complex information to public forums and committees.
  • Strong proficiency in research and providing concise recommendations within tight statutory timeframes.
  • A current Class C driver's licence.

Nice to have:

  • Skills in urban design analysis
  • An IAP2 qualification
