Job Description

As the Team Leader, you will lead a team responsible for the installation, repair, replacement of underground distribution assets up to 33kV. You'll oversee daily field operations, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and support effective job planning and delivery. This role combines hands-on technical involvement with strong team leadership, problem-solving, and coordination across multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead a team responsible for the installation, repair, replacement of underground distribution assets up to 33kV
  • Oversee daily field operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Support effective job planning and delivery
  • Install, replace, repair underground distribution assets (up to 33kV)
  • Review job requirements including materials, plant and labour
  • Develop work plans and methodologies to deliver work safely and efficiently
  • Participate in an after-hours Standby roster
  • Complete all field documentation accurately and on time
  • Scope work, identify environmental and job-related factors, and plan resources
  • Allocate people, plant, equipment, and hours to the appropriate job codes
  • Interpret technical drawings and provide guidance to team members
  • Explore alternative approaches to deliver improvements and cost savings
  • Lead, develop and support field staff day-to-day
  • Delegate work according to capability and supervise trainees
  • Promote high performance, productivity, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Provide continuous feedback and support team development
  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture
  • Complete HSQE and quality checks, audits, and reports
  • Ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and compliant

Requirements

  • Class 2 licence (HT licence preferred)
  • 5+ years industry experience
  • Strong leadership capability with experience guiding teams
  • Ability to plan workloads, solve problems and make sound decisions
  • Strong customer focus, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, quality, and the environment
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and the Safety Manual – Electricity Industry (SM‑EI)
  • Current Workplace Competencies (WTCs) as required
  • NZ Work rights required
