Team Leader – Earthing & Lightning Protection

• Lead and independently deliver earthing system studies that meet UK specifications and client requirements
• Conduct HV substation site surveys, including soil resistivity testing, earthing system measurements, continuity checks and visual inspections
• Perform lightning protection assessments, completing detailed technical risk assessments and protection system designs
• Deliver complex AC interference and impressed voltage studies
• Produce high‑quality technical documentation and engineering reports
• Work directly with clients to define scopes, provide technical guidance and manage expectations
• Develop project schedules, actions, risks, and decisions with minimal oversight
• Mentor junior consultants and review their technical work
• Take ownership of delivering our long‑term regional earthing framework across southern Scotland
• Plan and execute site surveys at high‑voltage substations
• Lead complex earthing and lightning protection studies
• Ensure all work complies with UK standards

• Typically around 6 years' experience in HV earthing design, measurement and system assessment
• Strong working knowledge of SES CDEGS or similar tools
• Experience completing substation earthing surveys
• Competency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD)
• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Chartered or Incorporated status welcomed or in progress
• Strong communication, analytical skills, and attention to detail
• Full UK driving licence

Understanding of AC interference, impressed voltage and lightning protection engineering would be advantageous
