Responsible for promoting the safety and security of staff and guests on the mountain, Ski Patrol are alert and dependable professionals focused on promoting safety with the ability to remain calm in a crisis when incidents arise.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain up to date knowledge of and enforce all applicable laws, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety of all guests
Maintain the safety and operation of trails through preventative procedures such as avalanche mitigation, tree and limb removal, and end of day sweeps of the mountain to ensure all guests have exited
Establish, coordinate, and execute emergency and hazard response plans such as evacuations and search and rescue protocols
Assist and provide care to injured guests and workers including transport via toboggan or air lift support when necessary
Facilitate training, mentorship, and support of patrol members
Assist patrol leadership in daily operations including but not limited to organizing and assigning responsibilities, incident investigations, and hiring activities
Manage, oversee and assign responsibilities to volunteers
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certification required
Valid driver’s license required
5 years of previous patrol experience required
Must be at least 21 years old
Must be able to communicate fluently in English
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
Ability to use all senses
Ability to lift and transport 50 to 100 pounds with or without assistance
Ability to frequently walk/stand, sit/climb, balance, stoop/kneel, crouch/crawl, and reach throughout the course of work in all climate conditions and at high elevations
Nice to have:
supervisory experience preferred
