Job Description

As the Team Lead – Payroll Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire payroll process for multiple clients. You will lead and mentor a team, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services while maintaining strict compliance with Sri Lankan labor laws and tax regulations. This role requires a proactive professional who can manage complex client inquiries, coordinate with various stakeholders, and drive operational efficiency to ensure high client satisfaction.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and supervise the payroll team to ensure the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll for multiple clients
  • act as the primary point of contact for client escalations and complex payroll queries
  • review and approve payroll calculations, statutory deductions, and final reports before submission
  • ensure compliance with Sri Lankan labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements (EPF, ETF, API Tax, etc.)
  • coordinate with internal departments (HR, Finance, IT) and external stakeholders (clients, auditors, regulators)
  • maintain and update payroll policies, procedures, and documentation
  • train, mentor, and develop team members to enhance performance and service delivery
  • monitor SLAs and KPIs to ensure client satisfaction and operational efficiency

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in payroll processing
  • at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role
  • strong knowledge of Sri Lankan payroll regulations and statutory compliance
  • experience working in a payroll outsourcing or shared services environment is preferred
  • proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel
  • excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively
