The post will be based in the School of Geosciences and will provide support for a significant capital research infrastructure project – the Aberdeen Geothermal Feasibility Pilot (AGFP). The AGFP will contribute to the University wide goals for Net Zero by providing research and research capability focused on understanding the potential for Geothermal in the Aberdeen region and internationally.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver the Aberdeen Geothermal Feasibility Pilot (AGFP) capital project by end-July 2026
Contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate seismology and geophysics teaching (leading existing lecture and/or practical sessions)
Contribute to seismological node deployment, data QC and processing
Provide support as required to the AGFP delivery team
Provide onsite assistance during drilling if needed
Requirements:
PhD or MSc
Qualifications and experience in seismology and geophysics
Ability to contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching
Ability to assist with seismological node deployment, data QC and processing
Ability to provide onsite assistance during drilling if needed
Eligibility for UK visa (Skilled Worker or Global Talent) if required
