Job Responsibility

  • Supporting the class teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom
  • Providing targeted, specialist support to small groups of 3-7 learners with complex needs
  • Collaborating effectively with other teaching assistants to deliver holistic support
  • Assisting in the delivery of engaging and interactive lessons and educational activities
  • Offering crucial 1:1, small group, and whole-class support to learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Actively contributing to creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students
  • Assisting with the planning and preparation of learning resources and activities
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, providing valuable feedback to the class teacher
  • Maintaining a safe, orderly, and conducive classroom environment

Requirements

  • Relevant SEN experience: A minimum of 6 months - 1+ years of experience is preferred, demonstrating your capability in supporting complex needs
  • Experience (voluntary or paid) working with children and young adults
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent are essential
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude are crucial for this role
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating for the best outcomes
  • A strong commitment to supporting the social, emotional, and general well-being of students
  • Proficiency in SEN support and strong classroom management skills
  • Professional knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and child development
