Job Description

Teaching Assistants for Linwood Campus, part of Linwood School, an ‘Outstanding’ multi-campus, day special school for children and young people aged 4 – 19. The role supports students with a comprehensive range of special educational needs. The work can be challenging and physically demanding but very rewarding.

Job Responsibility

  • Support students with special educational needs including moderate (MLD), severe (SLD) and profound (PMLD) and complex learning difficulties (CLDD) as well as those on the Autism spectrum
  • Work with students with PMLD who require high levels of care including toileting and personal care, assistance with eating and drinking, administering medication
  • Attend Monday after school training sessions during probation
  • Support students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally within a safe and supportive educational setting

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and committed
  • Resilience
  • Ability to communicate effectively using a range of tools
  • Previous experience of working with children and young people with learning difficulties and/or social communication difficulties is desirable but not essential
  • Must not be barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children
  • Subject to enhanced DBS check
  • Subject to overseas criminal record check if lived or worked outside the UK in the past 10 years
  • Subject to satisfactory references, health assessments, and right-to-work checks
  • Must adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
