Our approach is therapy-based, focusing on enabling students to access a tailored education and develop vital life skills.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting students in small classes (typically 4-11 students) and on a one-to-one basis to access a personalised and differentiated curriculum
Assisting with the development of core skills, including literacy and numeracy, as well as practical life and living skills such as cookery and gardening
Implementing individual education and behaviour support plans, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other specialists
Encouraging students' engagement, independence, and social interaction
Supporting students during off-site activities and community outings designed to build confidence and life skills
Contributing to a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
Assisting with the observation, recording, and reporting of student progress
Potentially providing personal care for some students, always with dignity and respect
Requirements:
A genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people with special educational needs
Empathy, patience, and a resilient "can-do" attitude
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and families
The ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated team
A willingness to learn and undertake comprehensive training, including safeguarding and positive behaviour support (e.g., Team Teach)
Good literacy and numeracy skills to support student learning and complete necessary records
Nice to have:
