Teaching assistant

• Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare and positive wellbeing of pupils
• Attend to pupils' personal needs when required, such as toileting, hygiene, dressing, and eating
• Support positive behaviour and concentration levels and adapt your responses to any changes in the children's behaviour
• Implement, and adjust when appropriate, learning activities as agreed with the teacher
• Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers and arrange or provide resources for lessons under the teacher's direction
• Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities
• Provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress, including next steps
• Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, reporting, and recording pupil progress
• Work co-operatively with colleagues, parents/carers, and other professionals following a multidisciplinary approach

• Level 2 award in supporting teaching and learning in schools or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards it
• Previous experience (at least one year) of working within a relevant SEND Provision
• Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
• Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
• Experience working within education is advantageous
• Commitment to the role, with a desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual
• Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
• Good numeracy and literacy skills, and competent ICT skills
• Flexible, adaptable, and solution-focused
• Satisfactory Enhanced DBS with barred list checks are required
• You must be able to meet the demands of work that can be physically challenging at times
• You will be required to participate in regular training, supervision, appraisal, and continuous professional development
