Stafford Hall School is a split site provision alongside Amisfield House, staff can be expected to work at either site and may be asked to move site to meet the needs of the students. Stafford Hall offers a family like children’s home with a small school that delivers a full curriculum experience that not only reflects the pupils learning needs but also engages interests, sensory needs and regulation strategies. Located in Halifax, Stafford Hall School accommodates 12 pupil and can teach up to 20 young people from the ages of 11 to 19. We are able to support young people with autism and learning difficulties. We have high aspirations for our pupils and strive relentlessly to improve relationships between all those who work with children and young people to ensure they feel valued and safe.
Job Responsibility:
Motivating, engaging and encouraging the pupil(s) as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils’ needs
Assisting in developmental areas, e.g. speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation etc.
Promoting the acceptance and inclusion of the pupil with SEN and encouraging pupils to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner
Monitoring the pupil’s response to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modifying or adapting the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended outcomes
Under the direction of the teacher, carrying out and reporting on systematic observations of pupils to gather evidence of their knowledge, understanding and skills: enabling the teacher to make judgements about each pupil’s stage of development
Knowing and applying school policies on Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning, Equal Opportunities etc.
Complying with legal and organisational requirements for maintaining the health, safety and security of yourself and others in the learning environment
Requirements:
Demonstrable levels of numeracy & literacy equivalent to GCSE (A-C) or NVQ Level 2 (or by test)
Effective computing skills for both teaching and management
Relevant work experience in a similar background within a Primary/Secondary setting
Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
The ability to maintain and develop a ‘culture of vigilance’ with regard to safeguarding and child protection
To build positive relationships with both student and parents/carers
