Job Description:

Teaching Assistants Wanted in Liverpool! We are looking for confident, experienced, or highly capable Teaching Assistants to support students aged 11-16. We need people who can mentor a student through a tough day, and help the teacher keep the lesson moving. If you have a background in youth work, coaching, or previous school support, we have consistent work available.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work 1-to-1 with students who are struggling to stay focused on the task
  • Lead small "break-out" groups to help students with specific literacy or maths goals
  • Manage classroom behaviour by being a firm but fair presence alongside the teacher
  • Ensure students remain on task and actually complete their set classwork
  • Help the teacher prepare resources like worksheets or equipment before the bell rings
  • Supervise students during lesson transitions and break times to keep the school calm
  • Act as a positive mentor, helping teenagers build the confidence they need for exams
  • Follow all safeguarding procedures strictly to ensure every student is protected
  • Assist with exam access by acting as a reader or scribe for students during tests
  • Provide a quick handover note for the teacher about who worked well and who didn't

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with teenagers in a structured environment
  • An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Strong communication skills to build rapport with both staff and students
