Job Description:

Teaching Assistant - Make a Difference at an SEN School! Do you have a passion for supporting young people with autism to achieve their full potential? Are you dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment? If so, we want to hear from you! We are an SEN school in Effingham seeking a motivated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. We offer a rewarding opportunity to work with autistic students aged 11-16, who have associated behavioural and communication difficulties, in a supportive and stimulating setting.

Job Responsibility:

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students in line with school policies
Providing positive behaviour support and adapting your approach to meet individual student needs
Building strong and trusting relationships with students, creating a safe and positive learning environment
Promoting independence and personal development in our students
Supporting the teacher in implementing engaging and differentiated learning activities
Preparing resources and adapting learning materials under the teacher's guidance
Contributing to a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive
Participating in the school's behaviour support approach, including physical intervention (accredited Team Teach) where necessary and always as a last resort
Completing reports accurately and within designated timeframes

Requirements:

Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) in an employed or voluntary setting
A recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in Support work for Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) is desirable
GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 (or equivalent) is essential
A strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD
A proven ability to provide consistent support to children with diverse needs
A child-centered approach, treating each student as an individual and valuing their unique strengths
A positive and creative approach to meeting pupils' individual needs
The ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues
