This Trust, a specialist school and college, registered children's home, and adult supported living houses, is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team of approximately 300 staff. We serve about seventy students and eleven tenants. The role of the Teaching Assistant is highly valued here. Our Assistants relieve pressure on teaching staff and, through the quality of their work and interaction with children, ensure that the learning experiences of our students are enhanced. Your role will provide a unique insight into student's needs and development. Job Responsibility:
Management of Teaching and Learning: Providing teaching assistance as defined by the teacher's weekly/daily/seasonal planning
assist teachers in meeting school policy and national curriculum requirements
help maintain a purposeful teaching environment
Leading group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
Working individually with students to develop work, which may include work tasks outside the classroom in the community (e.g., shopping, travel skills, supporting work experience)
Supporting the general wellbeing of students and ensuring they are managed according to school expectations
Supervising students in various settings, including general movement around the large 23-acre site, in classrooms, work experience placements, toileting, changing rooms, play areas, and the dining room
Physical and mental resilience is required due to the nature of our environment and student challenges, including the physical agility to move across the site and support offsite activities
Mandatory Training: Every staff member is required to complete team teach positive behaviour support training before employment and refresher training periodically
Monitoring and evaluating students' learning under the teacher's guidance, and assisting in monitoring student work to inform planning
Carrying out designated administrative tasks such as photocopying, making worksheets, stock-taking, and dealing with parents regarding illness, mishaps, or lost property
Attending and contributing to staff meetings and consultation evenings as required
