Job Description:

Join Our Founding Team: Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant. Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people with unique learning needs? We are thrilled to have opened a brand-new SEND Secondary School in September 2025, and we are looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants to join us at the very start of this journey. Based in Chaldon, Surrey, this school supports students aged 11-16 who require specialised assistance with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing-typically associated with Autism.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting learning and adjusting activities under guidance of Class Teacher
  • Taking responsibility for safeguarding and promoting wellbeing of pupils
  • Promoting positive behaviour and concentration levels
  • Encouraging independence and supporting cognitive, social, and emotional growth
  • Working closely with teachers and parents/carers

Requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Level 2)
  • Level 2 award in supporting teaching and learning (or willingness to work toward one)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Competent ICT ability
  • Resilience to meet physical demands
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Nice to have:

  • Previous SEND experience
  • Background in youth work
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorders
  • Experience with social emotional mental health
  • Manual handling
  • Restraint training
  • Speech and language therapy experience
  • Personal care experience
