Job Description:

Assist the Teacher(s) in the development, organization and implementation of an interactive/adaptive curriculum that provides an active, supportive, and positive learning environment. Assist the Teacher in the development of obtainable and measurable goals and objectives and engages and facilitates participation of each adult. Monitors and documents progress of each adult in relation to their individual goals and objectives. Responsible for ensuring the adults remain actively engaged in meaningful activities making adaptations as necessary. Provide and assist with personal care for adults as needed.

Job Responsibility:

Assist the Teacher with individualizing and administering a curriculum
Ensure that all individuals remain actively engaged in meaningful activities
Provide input into the development of the Individual Program Plan
Assist the Teacher in the classroom activities and lesson plans
Record accurate and detailed documentation regarding the individual's objectives, personal care, behavior reports and/or therapy goals
Comply with and provide all program objectives, personal care, and medical instructions for each individual
Assist and/or provides support to individuals served using a variety of methodologies
Assist with and/or develops training materials that can be adapted to each individual's learning style
Maintain a safe and organized training area
Ensure staff to adults served ratios (1-10) is maintained
Utilize positive behavior intervention techniques
Monitor and know the location of all adults assigned to the group
Operate a passenger van to transport individuals
Monitor the need for assistance and/or behaviors for adults during paid meal period and breaks
Demonstrate ability and flexibility to transfer professional knowledge to multiple training areas

Requirements:

High School diploma
preferred CNA Certificate
two years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to follow, give and receive written and/or verbal instructions
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Valid Arkansas Driver's License
Ability to lift and transfer adults
