Job Description:

This role involves working as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a school for children aged 7-19 with autism spectrum conditions, located in a stunning 22-acre environment. The school offers 1:1 support, small class sizes, exceptional facilities, and a nurturing learning environment. Main responsibilities include supporting students, collaborating with teachers, and contributing to a positive classroom environment. Training and professional development opportunities are provided.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support to students in the classroom
  • assist teachers with lessons
  • provide individualised support and help create a positive learning environment
  • collaborate with the class teacher
  • implement personalized learning plans
  • support students with a range of needs
  • provide help with activities, behaviour management, and personal care as required
  • create a positive and encouraging atmosphere
  • promote safety, belonging, and well-being
  • participate in ongoing professional development

Requirements:

  • A valid DBS check
  • a full driving licence (preferred)
  • a passion for supporting children with autism spectrum conditions
  • patience, care, and enthusiasm about supporting learners
  • experience working in education, children's homes, or EYFS (desirable)
  • experience with Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECs) or other communication tools for non-verbal learners (desirable)
  • experience with speech & language or BSL (desirable)

What we offer:
  • Term-time only contract
  • competitive salary of £19,000 per year, rising to £20,500 after 2 years
  • opportunity to work in the care setting for 16 hours per week during school holidays, adding an additional £2,000 to your salary after 6 months
