Teaching Assistant

• Provide consistent, dedicated support throughout the school day, assisting the student in accessing the curriculum and navigating the school environment
• Proactively identify triggers and implement effective de-escalation processes to manage and safely minimise aggressive behaviour, maintaining a calm and safe environment for the student and peers
• Support the student in developing independent emotional regulation skills and coping strategies
• Maintain accurate, detailed records of incidents, strategies used, and progress made, feeding back critical information to the SENCo and outside agencies

• Experience is Mandatory: Demonstrable, recent experience working 1:1 with young people who are non-verbal and present with high-level challenging behaviour or aggression (e.g., in a PRU, specialist school, or complex needs setting)
• De-escalation Expertise: Proven knowledge and application of recognised de-escalation techniques and positive handling strategies (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, or similar training is highly desirable)
• Resilience & Patience: Exceptional levels of patience, emotional resilience, and the ability to remain calm and consistent in high-pressure situations
• Commitment: Available full-time (5 days a week) for an ASAP start on a contract basis
