Job Description

Are you a qualified Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work that fits around your lifestyle? We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and proactive Level 3 Teaching Assistant for supply opportunities across fantastic primary schools in the Okehampton area. As a supply TA, you will have the chance to work within different primary year groups (EYFS to Key Stage 2), supporting class teachers, leading small intervention groups, and helping to create a positive, engaging learning environment for all pupils. Whether you are looking for regular day-to-day work, short-term blocks, or long-term placements, supply work offers the ultimate flexibility without the additional pressure of full-time planning.

Job Responsibility

  • Support Learning: Work closely with class teachers to deliver pre-planned activities and lessons, ensuring pupils stay engaged and on task.
  • Intervention & Groups: Lead small group interventions or provide 1:1 support for pupils who need extra help with literacy, numeracy, or social skills.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment.
  • Inclusion: Support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), adapting your approach to meet their individual needs.
  • Preparation: Assist with setting up the classroom in the morning and clearing away at the end of the day.

Requirements

  • Qualification: A minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Proven experience working within a UK primary school setting.
  • Adaptability: A flexible mindset, with the ability to walk into a new classroom and hit the ground running with a smile.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to quickly build rapport with pupils, school staff, and parents.
  • Compliance: An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for one) and two professional references.

What we offer

  • Flexibility: Choose the days you want to work and maintain a great work-life balance.
  • No Take-Home Work: Enjoy the reward of teaching without the evenings spent marking and planning.
  • Local Work: Keep your commute short with schools specifically located in and around Okehampton.
  • Competitive Pay: Weekly pay via PAYE.
  • Support: A dedicated consultant to match you with the right schools and manage your diary.
