You will support students aged 5-19 with severe social communication needs, complex learning disabilities, and, at times, challenging behaviours. Your work will directly help them develop independence, life skills, and confidence for life beyond education.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support small classes (5-11 students), grouped by ability and social needs
  • Assist with core subjects such as literacy, numeracy, and science
  • Help deliver life skills activities like cookery and gardening
  • Support communication using Makaton, symbols, and assistive technologies
  • Provide emotional and behavioural support during challenging moments
  • Work collaboratively within a skilled and supportive team
  • Provide personal care where required (full training provided)

Requirements:

  • Empathy, compassion, and a positive 'can do' mindset
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Patience and emotional resilience
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to provide personal care when needed
