Join Our Team as a Teaching Assistant at Specialist Trust in Surrey! Are you passionate about supporting the learning and development of students in a specialist setting? This Trust, a specialist school and college, registered children's home, and adult supported living houses, is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team of approximately 300 staff. We serve about seventy students and eleven tenants. The Role: Teaching Assistant. As a TA, you will be primarily responsible for Teaching Assistance to help promote effective teaching and learning for our students. You will be accountable to the Class Teacher.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing teaching assistance as defined by the teacher's weekly/daily/seasonal planning
  • assisting teachers in meeting school policy and national curriculum requirements
  • helping maintain a purposeful teaching environment
  • leading group and/or individual activities planned by the teacher
  • working individually with students to develop work, including work tasks outside the classroom in the community
  • supporting the general wellbeing of students and ensuring they are managed according to school expectations
  • supervising students in various settings including movement around the site, classrooms, work experience placements, toileting, changing rooms, play areas, and dining room
  • completing team teach positive behaviour support training
  • monitoring and evaluating students' learning under the teacher's guidance
  • assisting in monitoring student work to inform planning
  • carrying out designated administrative tasks such as photocopying, making worksheets, stock-taking, and dealing with parents regarding illness, mishaps, or lost property
  • attending and contributing to staff meetings and consultation evenings
