We are seeking a passionate and experienced Full-time Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting students with SEMH and SEN needs, as well as excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on students’ lives. This role is crucial in providing individualized support to students, assisting classroom teachers, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs
Help prepare and organize learning materials and resources
Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and engaging classroom environment
SEMH Support: Implement strategies to support students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs
Assist in creating and maintaining a positive and nurturing classroom atmosphere
Provide emotional support and encouragement to students facing challenges
Collaborate with the school’s mental health team to develop and implement support plans
SEN Support: Work closely with students who have special educational needs, providing tailored support
Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies
Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the needs of SEN students
Monitor and record student progress, sharing observations with the teaching team
Behavior Management: Assist in implementing positive behavior management strategies
Help students develop self-regulation skills and coping mechanisms
Provide consistent and fair support in line with school policies
De-escalate challenging situations and promote a calm learning environment
Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and other staff members
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions about student progress
Assist in parent-teacher conferences and provide feedback on student performance
Collaborate with external agencies and professionals when necessary
Administrative Tasks: Assist with record-keeping and documentation of student progress
Help with the organization and maintenance of classroom resources
Support the implementation of school policies and procedures
Assist with supervision during break times and school events
