Teaching Assistant - Specialist SEN School & College. Location: Cranleigh, Surrey (Semi-rural 23-acre site). Salary: £20,224 - £21,032 (Actual) | £23,580 - £24,521 (Full-Time Equivalent). Bonus: £1,000 Retention Bonus (paid in stages over 18 months). Hours: 36 hours per week, Term Time only (39 weeks per year). We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individuals to join our skilled education team in a specialist setting for students aged 5-19. Working in a specialist environment is very different from a mainstream TA position. Our students have severe social communication difficulties, complex learning disabilities, and often display challenging behaviours. Your role is to help them access therapy-based education, develop life skills, and achieve the highest level of independence possible.
Job Responsibility
Small class support in groups of 8-13 students
help students use Makaton, signs, symbols and communication aids via a multi-sensory approach
provide emotional guidance using positive behaviour strategies (Team Teach)
assist with daily living tasks including personal care
collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of teachers and therapists
