Job Description:

Teaching Assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher and complete related work as required. The duties of this position may require specific skills and abilities based on the students’ needs and/or program.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
  • Implement specialized instruction to students
  • Collaborate with colleagues and assist teacher to meet student learning needs
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders
  • Assist with maintaining record keeping
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Promote equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments

Requirements:

  • NYS Teaching Assistant certification
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students
  • Depending on the course there may be a requirement of successful completion of specialized training and/or safety certifications
