Job Description

Working in a specialist environment is very different from a mainstream TA position. Our students have severe social communication difficulties, complex learning disabilities, and often display challenging behaviours. Your role is to help them access therapy-based education, develop life skills, and achieve the highest level of independence possible.

Job Responsibility

  • Small Class Support: Work within small groups (8-13 students) grouped by ability and social needs
  • Communication: Help students use Makaton, signs, symbols, and communication aids via a multi-sensory approach
  • Emotional Guidance: Provide support when students feel anxious or frustrated, using positive behaviour strategies (Team Teach)
  • Life Skills: Assist with daily living tasks, which may include providing personal care (full training provided)
  • Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of teachers and therapists
