Job Description:

"An educated mind is one that can consider a thought without immediately accepting it as true." This Hemel Hempstead based school assists students with complex and severe special education needs starting at age six. They are currently seeking a talented, understanding, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to collaborate with their senior team of experts in order to give all of their students the best possible learning and development opportunities. This is a long term role available to start ASAP!

Job Responsibility:

  • Work on a 1:1 or small group basis with children who have Special Educational Needs
  • Lesson/work planning for the students you are working with
  • Utilise learning schemes in order to progress your student's learning
  • Report back to parents and teachers regarding the students progress
  • Supporting children's physical, social and emotional well-being
  • Completion of daily records for pupils
  • Classroom preparation for the following school day

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEN pupils
  • Managing challenging behaviour and supporting the class teacher
  • Ability to assist teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment for children with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Understanding of autism
  • 2 professional references to reference your recent work with SEN children
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to make one
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available with this role)
