Job Responsibility:

  • Foster Independence: Provide tailored support for students with ASD and high-anxiety profiles
  • Think on Your Feet: Adapt lesson plans in real-time to meet the sensory and emotional needs of your students
  • Champion Positive Behaviour: Use person-centred, trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate and support
  • Collaborate: Partner with teachers and therapists to create a classroom culture where every student feels safe to succeed

Requirements:

  • Hold relevant Teaching Assistant certifications
  • Background (or deeply rooted interest) in SEMH and SEN support
  • Patience and emotional intelligence required for a high-needs setting
  • Team player
  • Teaching experience
  • Skills: ability to track progression in attainment, background in youth work, behaviour management, building relationships, classroom management, communication, de-escalation techniques, empathy, experience in administering medication, experience in managing challenging behaviour, experience with autism spectrum disorders, experience with learning difficulties, experience with social emotional mental health, inclusiveness, manual handling, marking, mentor experience, personal care experience, planning, resilience, restraint training, speech and language therapy experience
