Job Description

St. Peter’s International School, located in Palmela near Lisbon, serves around 1,500 students from 4 months to 18 years on a modern 37,000 m² campus. The Nursery Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for our youngest learners. Job Responsibility

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in setting up and facilitating daily play-based learning activities
  • Maintain constant supervision of children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure a safe environment
  • Assist with essential hygiene routines, including diaper changes, potty training, and hand washing
  • Help children during snacks and lunch, encouraging healthy eating habits and independence
  • Support and settle children during scheduled rest periods, ensuring their comfort and safety
  • Keep the classroom, toys, and equipment clean, organized, and sanitized throughout the day
  • Strictly follow school health and safety protocols and report any welfare concerns immediately

Requirements

  • A relevant qualification in Early Childhood Education or Childcare is highly preferred
  • Previous experience working in a nursery, creche, or preschool setting
  • Fluency in Portuguese is essential
  • a good communicative level of English is a strong advantage given the school's international curriculum
  • Extreme patience, a warm and caring personality, and the ability to multitask in a high-energy environment
