Job Description

SEND Learning Support Role – Hastings Coast Area – Temp-to-Perm. We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive education team, working with students with additional needs across sixth form and secondary setting in the Hastings coast area. This is a full-time, term-time role with temp-to-perm opportunities.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide personalised support to students
  • Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to provide one-to-one or small group support
  • Support students in-class, during independent study, and at break/lunch times
  • Provide regular feedback to staff on academic progress, social skills, and wellbeing
  • Monitor and adapt learning activities to meet students’ needs and goals
  • Promote inclusion, positive social interaction, and self-esteem
  • Foster links between partner colleges and the main school
  • Participate in school activities, training, supervision duties, and educational visits as required
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and any concerns, adhering to safeguarding policies
  • Uphold high standards in preparation, classroom management, and student engagement
  • Attend meetings with colleagues, parents, and students as needed
  • Contribute positively to the school’s ethos and vision
  • Undertake any additional reasonable duties as requested by senior staff

Requirements

  • Experience in SEND, learning support, or transferable skills
  • Teaching Assistant / Learning Support roles
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Pastoral or care support for children/young people
  • Behaviour support, tutoring, or activity leadership
  • Passionate about supporting students with additional needs
  • Eligible to work in the UK or hold a relevant work visa
  • Provide details for reference checks
  • Provide an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
