Job Description:

The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a compassionate, resilient and motivated Inclusion Teaching Assistant to join The Bridge, our specialist Inclusion Centre. This is a rewarding opportunity to work as part of a dedicated and supportive team, helping students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The Bridge is a specialist provision supporting students aged 11-16 with complex Cognition and Learning difficulties. Our approach is child-centred, recognising each student as an individual and tailoring learning to their starting points, strengths and next steps. You will be joining a team that is passionate about inclusion, high expectations and positive outcomes for every young person.

Job Responsibility:

  • Helping students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to thrive academically, socially and emotionally
  • Supporting students aged 11-16 with complex Cognition and Learning difficulties
  • Tailoring learning to their starting points, strengths and next steps

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of working with young people to support their physical and mental wellbeing
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Educated to a minimum requirement of Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • High levels of motivation, energy and commitment with a reflective approach to the role
  • Ability to work to build positive relationships with students and their parents/carers
