This role is for those who understand that for a student with Autism, a 'breakthrough' might be a successful transition between lessons, a new word, or a calm afternoon in a sensory room. Sensory-First Approach: Help manage the environment to reduce sensory overload, ensuring students feel safe and ready to learn. Specialised Communication: Gain or use experience with PECS, Makaton, and Visual Timetables to facilitate meaningful interaction. Job Responsibility:
Use visual schedules and 'now and next' boards to reduce anxiety and help students manage transitions
Work 1:1 to deliver personalised learning tasks that align with the student's specific interests and EHCP goals
Recognise early signs of sensory or emotional deregulation and implement calming strategies before a crisis
Facilitate structured play or social interactions to help students build friendships
Requirements:
