Job Description

Are you a patient, perceptive individual with a passion for neurodiversity? Join our specialist network as an Autism Support Assistant and help children with ASC navigate their school day with confidence, comfort, and success. Unlocking Potential: Support Beyond the Standard Classroom. We are seeking dedicated ASC Specialists to work within local Special Schools and Resource Provisions. This role is for those who understand that for a student with Autism, a 'breakthrough' might be a successful transition between lessons, a new word, or a calm afternoon in a sensory room.

Job Responsibility

  • Promoting predictability using visual schedules and now and next boards
  • delivering 1:1 personalised learning tasks aligned with student's EHCP goals
  • recognising early signs of sensory or emotional deregulation and implementing calming strategies
  • facilitating structured play or social interactions

Requirements

  • Experience with Autism (either professionally or personally)
  • knowledge of TEACCH or ABA principles
  • enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
  • 100% dedicated to Safeguarding

Nice to have

  • Experience with PECS
  • Makaton
  • Visual Timetables
  • TEACCH principles
  • ABA principles
