Job Description

This is a long-term 1:1 support role working with a young boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The start date is flexible, with the opportunity to begin immediately or before September for the right candidate. You will play a key role in supporting the pupil’s learning, communication, and engagement throughout the school day.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s needs
  • Support classroom engagement and daily routines
  • Implement effective behaviour and communication strategies
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Encourage independence and social development
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with ASD – essential
  • Understanding of autism-friendly strategies and approaches
  • Previous experience working in a school setting
  • Calm, patient, and resilient nature
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Nice to have

  • Experience in 1:1 roles
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions
