Job Description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives? We are looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils in small, nurturing SEMH classes. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who need additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them thrive both academically and personally. You don’t need to have worked in a school before. If you’ve supported children or adults in any setting—care work, youth work, coaching, hospitality, mental health support, or even as a parent—you may already have the skills we’re looking for.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, tailored lessons
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support
  • Help manage behaviour in a calm, consistent and supportive way
  • Encourage emotional regulation and social development
  • Create a safe, nurturing learning environment
  • Assist with daily routines and classroom organisation

Requirements

  • Patient, empathetic and understanding individuals
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Resilient and able to stay calm under pressure
  • Passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Team players who can also use initiative
  • A genuine desire to make a difference

Nice to have

  • Psychology students or graduates
  • Youth workers or sports coaches
  • Care workers or support workers
  • Nursery practitioners or teaching assistants
  • Those with experience in mental health or wellbeing roles
  • Anyone looking to transition into education

What we offer

  • Competitive daily rate: £90–£110
  • Weekly pay
  • Flexible working options: full-time, part-time – job share
  • Long-term roles available, temp-perm
  • Perfect for university students (e.g. psychology or related fields)
  • Ideal for those seeking term-time hours and better work-life balance
  • Great alternative if you’re tired of long nights or shift work
  • Opportunities for day-to-day flexible work if you prefer variety
