Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision school. This role involves providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage with their learning and build confidence. All pupils have anxiety and SEMH needs, and many are autistic. You will be supporting approximately 7 pupils in Years 9–11 across the week.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, anxiety, or autism
  • Confidence working independently in a 1:1 setting
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication skills
  • Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
