Job Description:

A friendly and welcoming primary school in Newhaven is seeking a reliable and adaptable Teaching Assistant to provide supply support on a flexible basis. The school has a strong community feel and is committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils. Staff work collaboratively to ensure children are supported both academically and emotionally, making this a great setting for candidates who enjoy working as part of a team.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the class teacher with the delivery of lessons
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils
  • Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources
  • Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom environments and routines
  • Support pupils’ learning, engagement, and wellbeing
  • Supervise pupils during break times where required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children (school-based experience desirable)
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive, patient, and proactive attitude
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with pupils and staff
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Nice to have:

  • Experience working within UK primary schools
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant)
