Job Responsibility

Apply psychological concepts such as behaviour management, developmental theory, and communication strategies in real-world settings
Gain practical experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex needs
Work across five specialist sites – Infants, Juniors, Secondary, Sixth Form, and Alternative Provision – giving you diverse exposure to different age groups and developmental stages
Receive ongoing training and mentoring, including Team Teach and Trauma-Informed Practice, to complement your academic studies
Build transferable skills in observation, intervention, and tailored support that will strengthen applications for postgraduate study or careers in clinical, educational, or occupational psychology
Supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Complex Needs

Requirements

Experience supporting young people with SEND and EHCPs, preferably in a secondary or alternative provision setting
Understanding of SEN strategies, differentiated support and behaviour management
Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with students, families and staff

Ability to adapt resources and teaching approaches to support learning, motivation and independence

Job Responsibility

Provide one-to-one and small group support to the allocated Year 10 student, working directly on academic tasks and life-skills learning
Assist in implementing and monitoring the student’s EHCP objectives, supporting progress toward personal targets
Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the student’s unique needs and learning profile
Support emotional regulation and behaviour management using positive, trauma-informed strategies
Build trusting relationships with the student to foster engagement, confidence, independence and self-advocacy
Work collaboratively with the SENCo, teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external professionals (e.g., therapists, educational psychologists) to ensure consistent support and coordinated practice
Record observations and progress, contribute to assessment data and feedback for EHCP reviews and planning meetings
Support integration into alternative education activities, including practical sessions, community learning and vocational experiences appropriate for Year 10
Help create a structured, inclusive environment where the student can participate fully in scheduled learning
Model and promote positive behaviour, independence, social skills and life-skills development
