Job Description:

Teaching and Learning Assistant Sixth Form (1206). Full Time – Term Time Only. Hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm. Start Date: September 2026. Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of autistic young people? Are you patient, understanding, and committed to helping learners achieve their full potential? If so, we would love to hear from you. Due to continued growth, The Rise Sixth Form is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching and Learning Assistants to join our expanding team.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support learners academically, emotionally, and socially
  • Prepare learners for lessons
  • Help learners complete coursework and assignments
  • Develop revision and study skills
  • Improve time management and organisation
  • Build confidence in essay writing and exam preparation
  • Access appropriate exam arrangements and support strategies

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with autistic young people or individuals with additional needs is desirable
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Empathetic, adaptable, and resilient
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges

  • Work across five specialist sites – Infants, Juniors, Secondary, Sixth Form, and Alternative Provision – giving you diverse exposure to different age groups and developmental stages
  • Receive ongoing training and mentoring, including Team Teach and Trauma-Informed Practice, to complement your academic studies
  • Build transferable skills in observation, intervention, and tailored support that will strengthen applications for postgraduate study or careers in clinical, educational, or occupational psychology
  • Supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Complex Needs
